White Pine Thaw Marathon Relay

LOCATION: 3868 West River Dr NE Comstock Park, MI 49321

EVENT DESCRIPTION: An annual marathon relay held on the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail, taking place the second Sunday of March. Teams tackle a 26.2-mile out-and-back course from Comstock Park to Russel Road on Michigan’s historic rail trail.

COURSE DETAILS:

• Out-and-back route on White Pine Trail
• Starting point: Comstock Park
• Turnaround: Russel Road (13.1 miles north)
• Plowed trail surface
• Facilities every ~4 miles
• Open course – runners must observe traffic at crossings

TEAM FORMAT:

• No maximum team size
• First registrant becomes Team Captain
• Captain creates team name
• Additional members join existing team
• Teams manage their own runner assignments
• Must complete entire 26.2-mile course
• No partial course completions allowed

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• Course remains open to public
• Teams responsible for own safety at road crossings
• Teams handle their own logistics and transitions
• Support facilities (parking/bathrooms) available along route

The White Pine Trail is maintained by Friends of The White Pine Trail, ensuring consistent winter maintenance for safe running conditions.
